I decide to start this group because I enjoy walking and love Central Park. The 6 mile loop is challenging and great as part of my exercise routine. It would be great to have a group of women who also enjoy walking to help me push myself to go there and push my time to make it a challenge. This is for women who are interested in walking at a brisk pace for 6 miles, or working up to walking at a brisk pace.

This will be a group who want to get together to walk in the morning during the week, and maybe weekends. This will more likely than not be a same time every day/week group. Also, it would be great to move the walks around to different locations....Rockefeller Preserve, North/South County Trailways, County Parks. etc. I am open for suggestions. In addition, members of different pace might group together over time. Lets be flexible.

The Greenwich YMCA is starting a walking group! The premise behind the group is to help get people active and meet new people. The club is open to all (you don't have to be a member). The first walk is scheduled for Wed. July 6 starting and ending at the YMCA on E. We're a fitness group for people interested in walking as a fitness exercise. We use an interval method in which we alternate fast with slow walking. Our intervals will be based on either time or distance. Examples would be: 3 reps of FW 5mins + SW 5mins; 3 reps of FW 0.5mi + SW 0.5mi. We'll meet at least twice a week, usually at Central Park.
